Charleston, South Carolina

CHARLESTON SOUTH CAROLINA!

We arrived in Charleston Saturday afternoon after a pretty smooth trip South. We are looking forward to 10 days on the coast after spending so many days in the mountains. Amy drove the big rig for the first time on the way here!

Breaker 1-9 Good Buddy!

We woke up Sunday morning and headed to old Charleston to take the Tommy Dew walking tour. Tommy walked us through the city and taught us a lot about history, culture, immigration, economics, slavery, piracy, architecture, religion, you name it... It was well worth the money and we recommend it to anyone visiting the area. It was awesome.

After the walking tour we hit Hyman's Seafood for lunch. It was no surprise when Braden ordered King Crab legs. From Alaska. In Charleston. Most of our pictures taken today were on the Canon and have not been processed yet.

Our campground is full of beautiful mossy oaks

This was Bryan's office on Monday. Braden and Bryan went to the Mt. Pleasant fishing pier. Bryan worked and Braden caught several species of fish.

They went back with uncle Kevin last night and caught a lot more fish including a shark! Bryan didn't have his camera....

Today we had a gun safety lesson from Uncle Kevin. Then we blew the living crap out of stuff. Uncle Kevin did a great job educating the boys on guns and how to use them safely. He then set up a bunch of water bottles and clay pigeons and let the boys blast them to pieces. They got to shoot a .22 Rifle, a 1911 pistol and an AR15 (assault weapon).

Aaron loved the pistol

Dreams do come true! BOOMCHAKALAKA!

Bryan had a blast too (get it?!?!) :)

I'm not sure which is more disturbing, this picture.. or the fact that uncle Kevin owns a grenade.

Last night we visited our first Camping World! We only spent $100.00 if you can believe it. We did find a 2012 THOR Bunkhouse Motorcoach that we fell in love with. Only 150K.

Today (Thursday 6/27) we visited the oldest living tree in North America. The Angel Oak tree is estimated to be 400-500 years old and shades over 17,000sf of ground. Imagine what this tree has lived through! The best part was getting some mud on the Jeep on Angel Oak Road.

We had a lot of space to ourselves at Oak Plantation

Carolina Adventure World- Winnsboro, SC.

We arrived at Carolina Adventure World on 6/20 in Winnsboro, SC. Carolina Adventure World is a huge park with over 100 miles of off-road ATV trails. We rented motorcycles for both the boys and a gator for us to chase them around. We are the only ones in the campground (fancy for parking lot with hookups) so we had our run of the place this evening. The boys did some mountain biking after dinner and Bodie ran around like a nut job. Looking forward to posting pictures of the fun.

We ate at our first Waffle House today. Looks scary, tastes goooood

License Plate Game, we only have 8 states left!!

Bryan and Braden went out to explore some trails on their bikes

End of the day!

We had a great time at Carolina Adventure World and would come back.  We did have a few hairy situations, but overall the boys learned a healthy respect for motorbikes and we had a great time.  The park is unbelievably easy to deal with.  They literally rent you the gear and turn you loose.  There were not any people telling you where to go, or watching your every move.  If you had a problem they would come get you right away.  Nice.

Lake Hartwell, South Carolina

We arrived at Lake Hartwell State Park yesterday, Monday, June 17th after an almost 5 hour trek from Ashville, NC ( a few stops and a few "navigational hiccups" added some time to the trip) We have the park almost all to ourselves and we have a beautiful waterfront campsite. There are 14 miles of shoreline along this lake and the park is about 680 acres!!! It is amazingly awesome to look out our back bedroom window and see the lake. It's so nice that the boys can fish right behind the RV. They can fish 24/7 if they want :-). We've gone on a few bike rides and spent some time exploring the boat ramp down the street. Today, it's been raining off and on and Bryan had to drive to Greenville for meetings all day. The boys and I are holding down the fort. So far today, we've fished, taken walks between rain showers and played Pictionary on the XBox. We also have baked cookies in the NuWave and we're hunkered down right now watching Monsters Inc and eating popcorn. I think another walk may be in our near future!!!! We are very thankful that Bryan is out earning a living so that we can enjoy this adventure- Thanks Daddy!
