One of the Thousand Trails campgrounds we had been wanting to visit is the Peace River Thousand Trails campground. It is far away from "civilization" but well worth the drive. The campground is right on the Peace River, so it floods easily...Thankfully, we had a few dry days and we were able to spend time on the banks of the Peace River hunting for fossils/sharks' teeth. The boys found the mother lode and even taught some of the younger kids (and older folks!) at the campground the best way to hunt! During our time at Peace River, we survived our first tornado and some ridiculously bad flooding. We ended up leaving a day early to head to drier and safer land...Oh, the memories....

| And then the storms came...and tornados and floods. |
 |
| We woke up after the storms to the river rising...This was right outside our passenger window...Our neighbors to the right had all packed up and left sometime during the night! |
