We just returned from a quick trip to Gettysburg, PA. We met friends at Artillery Ridge Campground and spent a bit of time getting acquainted with the Battle of Gettysburg. We put in some schooling time and the boys earned their Gettysburg Junior Ranger Patches! We visited the Gettysburg National Military Park and viewed the famous Cyclorama, saw a film at the visitor center, "A New Birth of Freedom" and explored the Gettysburg Museum of the American Civil War. We also took an Auto Tour of the battlefields and took time to check out some of the 1400 monuments, markers, and memorials in the park! Needless to say, there is so much more to discover about the Battle of Gettysburg and the Civil War. We can't wait to go back and learn more about this fascinating time in history.
A small view of the Cyclorama
Wouldn't want to see this sailing towards you :-(
The countryside is breathtaking
Two of the 1400 monuments, markers, and memorials...
Hard to see, but the boys are taking their Junior Ranger Oath and getting their patch and certificate from the park ranger after our learning adventure.
Back at the RV...with our newly acquired Junior Ranger Battle of Gettysburg certificate, special patches, and collectible Civil War trading cards...notice Braden's face...he just wants to get back to fishing.
Camping with friends
Our playground...even the adults got in on the fun...American ninja style!
Right behind our campsite...the horses left very morning and came back at sunset...They offered tours of the battlefield by horseback...
