Palo Duro Canyon, Texas

W-O-W!
Palo Duro Canyon is known as the "Grand Canyon of Texas".  It's the second largest canyon in the United States and we loved our time here!  The drive into the canyon definitely got our hearts pumping, but the "adventurous" trek was well worth it!  We had a one-of-a-kind view from our campsite and we were within steps of amazing climbs and hikes!  The sunsets were unbelievable at Palo Duro and the silence was deafening!  The boys were excited to put their climbing skills to the test and spent most of the daylight hours climbing the canyon walls and searching for geodes.  One of the rangers complimented the boys and said they were quite the "rock hounds" :-)  We loved that they were researching the different types of crystals were in the rocks they were finding!  It was a beautiful thing to see them so engaged in genuine learning!  The boys earned their Junior Naturalist Badges during our time at Palo Duro, by learning about the history, geology and animals of Palo Duro.  The Thomas Family gives the Palo Duro Canyon 8 thumbs up :-)
