Williamsburg, Virginia

The Thomas' have landed in Williamsburg.  It's Home Educators Month here and we are taking this opportunity to learn as much as we can...We'll be participating in special homeschool programming that's taking place this week and exploring the Historic Triangle -Williamsburg/Jamestown/Yorktown.

Materials to get us ready for Colonial Williamsburg...Maps, our special RevQuest packet, tickets...we're all set!

Leaving the Visitor Center, we crossed a footbridge that leads you "back in time"...

As you continue to walk, you see these fun factoids.

First stop...The Governor's Palace!
The highlight of the Governor's Palace - the swords!
Great Hopes Plantation...
A different way of cutting wood...on the plantation, everyone had to work together to accomplish everything that needed to be done...the boys were put to work while we were there!!!
Aaron putting in his time!
Braden's turn!
Checking out the livestock
Tobacco Barn
Lots of hands on experiences!
All that walking and touring made us hungry!  We ate lunch at the Kings Arms Tavern. (We tried peanut soup for the first time- still haven't decided if we liked the soup!)

The lute player that played during our lunch...very festive and relaxing!  Two thumbs up!
Plenty of parking
We visited the maker of shoes...
And the Silversmith
We stopped by the Cooper and saw how they made barrels and wooden containers.
We saw the Encampment...
We toured the Public Gaol (jail) and got a different perspective

We visited the Magazine and saw where they stored the weapons and ammunition

We were entertained and enlightened by many talented actors/townspeople during our time here

A good time was had by all :-)
