Orlando, Florida - Week 1

After leaving Easton, we headed south seeking warmer weather.  Our destination was Thousand Trails Orlando!  We spent two fun-filled weeks exploring the area and enjoying new experiences together.
Here are some of the highlights of our time in Orlando...first trip of 2015!
Blue skies and palm trees...

The lake at the campground...Braden didn't have much luck fishing, so I am going to go out on a limb and say...probably not a ton of fish there...
The alligators probably got to the fish first...
We checked out a state park that was right down the road...we love our Florida State Park Pass!!!
Aaron & I went canoeing on Dixie Lake while Bryan & Braden fished from the shoreline.
It was a beautiful day to paddle.
Cheese!
Back at the campground, we did some bowling with Marcus, a friend we met in Virginia!
Nothing like bowling outdoors!
We spent an afternoon at the pool with the Mann and Perry families before they headed to the Keys...
The boys put their new bikes to good use...they were outside riding bikes and playing at the playground with friends, once their schoolwork was finished each day!  It was awesome!!!!
We checked out The Showcase of Citrus in Clermont, Florida and tried our first orange juice slushy...
Ummmm....
Interesting... We stuck with the OJ slushies...
We visited the Citrus Tower and the Presidents Hall of Fame...

The Presidents Hall of Fame was very dated on the outside...but the inside held many surprises and a wealth of knowledge.
We really enjoyed the Presidents Hall of Fame...we were given a tour by a sweet, knowledgable woman named Joy and then were set loose to explore the museum on our own and complete a very thorough scavenger hunt!  It was a great way to kick off our Presidential Study Project!
Ladies and Gentlemen...you're looking at a leader!!!
Aaron & President Obama
Some of our past presidents
Do you think they serve chicken nuggets in The White House???
They had an exquisite model of The White House (Aaron showed me how to take a panoramic photo with my phone- I had no idea it could do that!)
The backside opened up to show all of the rooms of The White House.
The boys had their fortune read by George Bush...
Look closely...peek-a-boo!
The Citrus Tower was next door and we had to check it out... It's a part of history!
It was tall and we could see far and wide...the elevator ride to the top took us 47.9 seconds (we timed it...).  The view was expansive...the boys were impressed that it took 5 million pounds of concrete to build the tower!
We played Monopoly Empire- our new favorite game!
Family Fun Night....
We went sightseeing and exploring all over Orlando and Clermont!  Looky what we found!!!

We started 2015 strong and are working hard in 6th and 7th grade!
We went to the CSI Experience and the Our Body:The Universe Within exhibit.  We loved this field trip - we weren't allowed to take pictures at either place, but the boys especially enjoyed the CSI Experience!  We had a crime to solve and we went through all the steps a Crime Scene Investigator would go through as he/she worked a case.  We went through multiple forensic labs and learned a lot!
Solved!!!!
I really enjoyed this exhibit... The boys were fascinated, but truthfully they were freaked out a bit.
It was an amazing first week in Orlando!
Zzzzzzzzzz....Stay tuned for Week 2 highlights!
Sometimes he likes to sleep on the bed...sometimes he likes to sleep under the bed...sometimes only some parts make it under the bed...
