Santa Barbara, California

The next stop on the Thomas Family USA Road Tour was Rancho Oso Thousand Trails in Santa Barbara, California. ("Oso" means bear) As we drove into the valley, it was green again!  What a pleasant surprise!  The campground was beautiful, with a scenic view from all directions!  The only problem was there wasn't an internet OR cell signal.  This is a problem since Bryan works from the road.  We stayed for the weekend and enjoyed our few days at Rancho Oso.  We were able to see the 'Stock Dogs & Bucking Bull Demo' that happens every Saturday morning, which was exciting!  We also explored the surrounding area and visited the Cachuma Lake and the Chumash Painted Cave.  As you can tell, we packed a lot of fun into a few days!

The view...

A little history of Rancho Oso

Our home away from home for the weekend.  Can you spot us?

A nice touch :-)

If I was a horse, I'd want to live here...

Notice the Rancho Oso Brand

This is the training bear - He was weighted to feel like a real rider and he helps train the young bulls to buck them off!
Very cool!

You could see for miles!

Of course, we had to try some fishing here in Santa Barbara!

It was a beautiful day to fish and hike around the lake!

Braden doing what he does best!

Aaron, the resident treasure hunter, found a catfish skull.

Taking a break from the hike

This is how you take a teen picture!

We loved seeing all the different plants in this new environment!

Peek A Boo!

A magnificent cloud formation over Rancho Oso on our last night there!  Tomorrow we are back on the road!
