Space Camp and Beyond...

In August, we headed to Alabama for Space Camp.  Aaron was "over the moon" excited!!!  The campground where we stayed was beyond beautiful and right on a lake.  We enjoyed the outdoors and took some fun little trips in the days leading up to Space Camp.  We explored Cathedral Caverns, Harmony Park Safari (a drive through zoo), and found an amazing place called Unclaimed Baggage!!!  WOW!  What a great way to end our sensational summer of 2017!
Space Camp was so awesome that Aaron has already signed up for next year!  He made lasting friendships and learned so much!  He came back different kid - more confident, grinning from ear to ear, more ready to try new foods even! (he tried collard greens and shepherds pie at camp!!!!)
Here are some of our favorite memories...

We had a prime spot with a water view!  The campground was not busy at all and had a beautiful pool, recreation building with a cinema room and a fabulous exercise room overlooking the pool!  SCORE!

Steps from our campsite!

There's our little piece of Alabama for the next few weeks!

Great, walk-able campground!

Braden started Smile Direct Club while we were here...

We couldn't wait to check this place out!

Who remembers Hoggle???  He loved treasures and this place was full of treasures!

It was clean, fresh smelling and ready for us to shop til we dropped!

They had rows and rows and rows and rows of things left behind...

We didn't buy anything except a snack in the cafe, but it was worth the trip!

A treadmill overlooking the pool area...be still my heart!

Putting in some treadmill time...

Catching some time in the sun...

Can you spot the fisherman?

We drove to all these fun little fishing spots on the side of the lake...

Fishing = Happy Camper!

I really wanted to check out Harmony Park Safari, a drive through zoo...It was TOO COOL!!!!

Peek- A-Boo...

They swarmed the cars on occasion...

The animals were very curious...and hungry!

This miniature horse was one of my favorites...

Gorgeous reticulated giraffe

This little guy looks vaguely familiar!

My little boys ;-)

Checking out a slice of a 2700 year old giant sequoia tree...

This was a favorite for me and Aaron

They loved the lettuce!

Too cute!

Natural wonders...

I think they enjoyed it!

Back to reality...

In case you were wondering...

A little friendly competition...

Two thumbs up!

Aaron making us some delicious Mac and Cheese with Pancetta

Oh, almost forgot this one...my favorite from Cathedral Caverns!

We discovered this tasty little nugget down the road from the campground...

Bryan and Amy...afternoon kayak adventure!

Finally the day has come to pack for.....CAMP!  Check out his fancy suitcase!!!

There he goes...

The building on the left...those are the dorms

He claimed the top bunk!

We got to tour the grounds after he got settled into his dorm room..

Guess who went through that door?!?!  Arron Christopher Thomas, that's who!!!

That's where we left Aaron...See you in a week!!!!

We got to spoil Braden while Aaron was at camp!  Started with a trip to the Tennessee Aquarium (less than an hour away and he got to practice driving in Alabama)  Here he is feasting at Red Lobster!!!!
