Salt Lake City, Utah

On our way back across the USA, we stopped in Salt Lake City, Utah for a few days.  We explored the city a bit, but we much preferred to get out of the city and out in nature.  Here are some of our favorite memories from our time in Utah...

Hello, Utah!

Flat and salty...

It was beyond beautiful!

We stayed at the Salt Lake City KOA...You can see our Mirada and our satellite dish on the right side of the picture.

This was an AMAZING state park!  We had a great family fun day at Antelope Island!!!

Beautiful, right?  Just wait...It gets better!

They mean it...We have heard many stories about the belligerent bison :-)

Look at these magnificent views!!!

There was a great Visitors Center where we were able to learn many cool things about the area.  Here the boys are learning about the salt deposits (and getting to some hands on opportunities for learning!)

Pretty wild!

Who's that handsome boy?

The beauty was unreal...We took so many pictures because every place we turned, the views only got better and better!  Here are a few of our most favorite...

The bison roam freely on the shores...

Shhhhh...All this adventuring makes a man want to lay on a rock and relax!

This was a fun and challenging trail.  It was all uphill, but the views at the top made it worthwhile.  We almost had to carry Bodie down, though.

Here we are at the beginning of the Buffalo Point Trail journey (Notice that Bodie is leading the pack!)

Almost made it!!!

Ahhhhhhhhhh, that view!

A victory worth celebrating!

Just look at this.....

Our handsome boys!  Aaron - 12 years old, Braden 13 years old

Bodie...Post workout!

We were so thankful that we saw bison up close!  (We were in the Jeep)

Truly majestic creatures!

Our three boys

Guess who completed their Antelope Island State Park Junior Ranger activities to become Antelope Island Junior Rangers?!?!  That's right...The Thomas Boys!!!!!

So proud of my boys!

Another close up of Mr. Bison...

This place was recommended by fellow travelers...It has also been on Drive Ins, Diners, and Dives.  A line starts forming in the early afternoon for dinner, so you have to get there early to enjoy your meal.  Lucky for us, it was only a few miles from the campground!  We went early, only had to wait about 30 minutes, and enjoyed a meal that was beyond fantastic!  We were introduced to their signature mole sauces and had a delectable dessert.  Remembering it now makes me want to jump back in the car and head to Utah just for dinner!

We give Utah two thumbs up!!!  We will be back, because there is so much more to see and do, but the East Coast calls...
