Winsted, Connecticut

We couldn't leave the area without heading to Connecticut to visit our family up north. We were last here in September of 2013, so we were very excited to visit and catch up with the Ellis family!  We stayed at White Pines Campground again because it's so close to John and Melissa's home.  Here are some of our favorite memories from our Summer 2015 visit to Connecticut!

White Pines Campsites...We weren't there a whole lot, because we spent most of our time at John and Melissa's and exploring the area!

One of the highlights of our Connecticut trips are riding "QUADS" with our cousins!!!

Bryan was just as excited as the boys were to ride!

Pure Happiness!!!!!

They love to go fast!

John and Melissa have a beautiful home and a path that leads to an open area down a little hill and woods that they can ride the quads through!

Heading for "the fun zone!"

Here comes trouble!

Bryan and Aaron tearing it up!

John Benjamin showing us how to ride responsibly!

Braden zooming past us!!!!

Aaron flying through the field at rapid speed!

Cousins!

Melissa and John are amazing hosts!  We love visiting them!!!

No visit is complete without a trip here to race go-carts!

Happy Kids!

Melissa & Gianna watching the guys zoom around in circles!

Look at that happy guy!

Bryan & John racing to the finish line!

The following day we headed out to explore the great outdoors...

We went to Campbell Falls to hike and check out the waterfalls.

Hellooooooo down there!!!

Amy & Gianna taking a break for a quick picture!

Our little angels!

Hopping from slippery rock to slippery rock...fun times!

It was great to get out and explore a new place with family!

I wonder what these guys were chatting about?

We made it to the falls!

A quick stop to access the fishing situation...

Looking for a monster fish...

It was warm, so we treated the kids and Bodie to a cool, refreshing ice cream!
We were thankful to be able to spend some time with Uncle Jerry and Aunt Linda while we were in Connecticut...Here are the boys riding yet another "toy" around Uncle Jerry's yard!

Braden having his turn...

We were happy to celebrate Uncle Jerry's birthday with him and the family!!!

We were able to visit Bryan's father's/grandfather's former home...He was thrilled to be able to see it as it is today and to show our boys where he used to play as a child...

We met the current owner and she graciously showed us around and allowed us to tour the property.  John and Bryan reminisced about the old days and it meant so much to them to be able to spend this time here!

The boys loved it here,  Braden was able to fish in his great- grandfather's lake and the other boys boated and swam.

Bryan and John checking out the old spring.

It was magical...We didn't want to leave!

Inside the main house...

Braden and JB

Bryan and his cousins used to ride this horse trainer when they were little!  I loved that our kids could play there, too!

Everything was so similar to how they remember it as kids...

The new owner gave us a gift of homemade blueberry jam...

Back at Uncle Jerry's and Aunt Linda's...We were fortunate to be able to sit and talk for hours,,,

Anddddd there was more go- carting...

These guys love their wheels!

I love this picture!

Times like these are priceless...

Back at the property...The new owner gave us permission to spend a little time...Braden had a chance to fish...and the fishing was GOOD!

The lakehouse....

A little canoeing!

More fishing...

Swimming and paddle boating...

These two held my phone while Melissa & I canoed around the lake...Silly guys!

Breathtaking!

What a fantastical day!!!  We were all so thankful to have had the chance to spend a few hours here at a property that meant so much in the past...

Look who was waiting in town as we left Connecticut!!!  Thanks for the wonderful memories!!!!
